Dr. Ravi Kota, IAS, Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam

Joined in Indian Administrative Service in 1993, Dr. Ravi Kota, a gold medalist in Ph.D in Agronomy, brings with him 31 years of government leadership experience at all four levels- District, Provincial, Federal and External/International- from cutting edge level execution of developmental work to the senior policy level in varied sectors from food and agriculture, human resources, urban infra to internal security with main focus being public finance, fiscal practices and macro-economic policies. During his tenure as Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Assam, he steered the state finance transition during post-Planning Commission, demonetization and from VAT to GST, managed ways and means and helped raising internal resources, market borrowings and from external aided projects and mobilized private investments and driven the financial inclusion. He prepared State's annual budgets and managed public expenditure. Dr. Kota is fluent in Telugu, Hindi, English, Assamese and Bengali. Dr. Kota is an enthusiast of films, music and sports.
